One little known fact in the healthcare industry is you have a choice of where you go for services!
For example, if you go to your primary Doctor and he prescribes a medication, you have a choice of which pharmacy to use even if he recommends that you use a certain one. You will probably choose the pharmacy that is close, that you have used before, and the one with which you have had good experiences.
If your doctor recommends physical therapy for your injury and insists you have to go to a particular clinic (usually affiliated with his/her employer hospital system), know that you are not obligated to and can choose whichever clinic you want.
This choice should be what's best for you considering all the factors: knowledge and faith in the physical therapy provider, proximity, and expertise level.
We want you to know that the choice is yours, not your doctor’s.
Our hope is that we are the practitioners you choose!
Bottom Line: Always ask you doctor WHY he or she is referring you to a certain practitioner and always ask for alternatives as well if it is too far away, too expensive, or you already have a specialist in that field.
